A long time educator and entrepreneur, Jim Mahoney has dedicated his life to bettering educational opportunities for all students, serving as a superintendent, principal, and teacher, as well as an adjunct professor at several Ohio universities. In 2001, he joined Battelle for Kids as the organization’s first executive director. Under his leadership, the organization grew into a national not-for-profit and impacted more than 6 million students and more than 400,000 educators nationwide. Today, Jim serves as an executive in residence for Ohio University, Voinovich School and educator in residence for Buckeye Association of School Administrators.

The Digital Academy supports the continuing goals of the George V. Voinovich Academy for Excellence in Public Service at Ohio University’s Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs. Students, faculty, alumni, and community members can take part in an informative virtual learning experience through Webinars, Open Micro-Course content, and subject-based Quick Talks.
Digital Academy webinars are inclusive of leadership and best-practice discussions presented live over the Internet, as well as pre-recorded seminars delivered from one of our campus locations. All content and presentations are developed and delivered by faculty members, fellows, advisory group experts, and Government and Non-profit officials.
Quick Talk Series
The Quick Talk Series are short videos that are devoted to both influence and engage students, faculty, and community on current and emerging topics in the private and public sector. Quick Talks are also shared ideas and research from faculty and affiliates of the Voinovich School at Ohio University and are hosted online for free.
Open Micro-Courses through the Voinovich Digital Academy are free and open to all learners. They are micro-courses offered online from a broad range of content areas and provide an opportunity for learners to gain knowledge and valuable insight from faculty and affiliates of the Voinovich School of Leadership and Public Affairs. Individuals may also want to broaden their learning experiences with continued professional development by enrolling in one of the Voinovich School’s formal Executive, On-Campus, or Online degree programs.
